Batting Skills - There are two basic strategies that you have to remember while playing a cricket game, and these are to bat well and bowl out at the right times. A batsman needs to hit at least six four-letter words or more in an over to score runs. After the runs have been scored, the coach will usually give a message to the batsman describing how many runs have been made by him. Then the batsman needs to run up to the wicket to complete the job. After completing this he needs to return to the wicket with the ball so that the match continues.

Bowling Skills - Bowling is a very important part of the cricket game, which is not at all difficult, provided you know the basics. The bowler has to manage the pitch carefully, control the bat very carefully so that the ball does not twist and turn in the air and finally manage to drive the ball to the designated hole. A successful bowling stroke is the product of perfect timing and correct weight shift on the foot. In fact, many bowlers have perfected their game only by bowling perfectly at a match.

Fielding Skills - It is very important for cricket players to be aware of their fitness levels and physical condition while playing a cricket game. One must try to keep his body in good shape all the time. Two teams are usually put into divisions, each team playing three players. The match is usually played on an over after which the teams play each other in turns. Usually, the winning team gets to take two teams with them and the losing team has to pick up one player.

Batting Skills - Although bowling and catching are cricket skills, they are not as important as running, catching and fielding. It is quite natural for batsmen to focus on striking the ball as well as catching it. Bowling and catching can be learnt later on if required. When it comes to bowling, a good spinner and good arm action are essential to bring the cricket ball past the wicket keeper.

Ball Playing Skills - It is obvious that every cricket match consists of eleven players. But when playing a cricket game, two extra players are allowed to bat in case there is an injury to any of the outfield players. The position of the wicket keeper is the most important position in cricket team as he is the only person who can call the run for his side. If the keeper fails to call the run then the other six players have to play the entire cricket match.

Captaincy - Being the captain of a cricket team is a great responsibility. Therefore, a captain has to be perfect and should always have the best possible cricketing skills. A cricket match requires a great game management skills from both the captains and the umpires. It is the duty of the captains to manage the cricket team and umpires to call the run.

Other than these, there are some important rules that need to be followed by all players during the course of the match. The most common rule among all is that no batsman can hit the ball beyond the length of the batsman's bat. The rules also state that a batsman cannot bowl a ball outside the off stump. There are several other rules for cricket which are very important. Hence, a cricket player must be aware of all of them.
