The IBC Tote Mixers Have Air or Electric Drive
Summer is the season for picnics in the park, beach days and long evening walks. Mixing 2 year old paint Tossing a hand-painted tote bag over your shoulder makes it easy to bring along snacks and refreshments for these fun activities. This DIY project is a great way to show off your creative style and add a personal touch to this casual carryall.
The first step in making a tote bag is choosing the design you would like to paint. You can use a stencil, a free downloadable template or create your own unique design with acrylics. Choose colors that complement each other and are suitable for a fabric bag, such as a rainbow or pastels. After selecting a design, sketch out a rough outline with a marker on the tote bag. Then start filling it in with the acrylic paints you have chosen. You will also need a bottle of textile medium (it can be found at most craft stores). This helps the paint not crack or peel on your tote bag when it is bent or moved, and it also makes the paint machine-washable.
Acrylics are the best choice for tote painting, as they are water-based and are formulated to adhere to canvas. To make the paints more fabric friendly, mix them with textile medium in a ratio of 2 to 1 before applying them to your canvas bag. Start with the lighter colors in your dotted pattern, then work in the darker shades. When you have applied the first color, retrace your design with a pencil eraser and then apply the next color over it. Repeat until you have the entire tote bag covered in your design.
Mixing Paint
The IBC tote is a common container for efficient paint distribution via truck trailers, but its cubic form can interfere with thorough mixing and re-suspension of settled solids. For these applications, EvenMix offers IBC tote mixers that have the torque and horsepower ratings necessary for agitating high-viscosity road paint formulations.
These IBC mixers feature a stainless steel motor housing on wetted parts and are constructed with food-grade materials, meeting USDA requirements for tote cleaning. The mixers can be used in open or closed drums and are compatible with standard bungs. EvenMix also offers IBC agitators that mount directly to the top of the tote and feature shaft, folding impellers that fit through 6-inch tote openings. These mixers have air or electric drive and can be ordered in a variety of sizes, from a five-gallon pail kit to a 55-gallon drum agitator.
